OTHER SERVICES
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
Requests can be handed in at reception or posted to us.
You can now also email your request to spires.practice@nhs.net
please ensure you give all of your details including name, address, date
of birth and the exact medication which should be taken from the repeat
slip attached to your prescription.
Prescriptions should be ready for collection within two
working days. If you supply a stamped, addressed envelope we will post
the prescription back to you. To avoid mistakes the receptionists have
been instructed not to take requests over the phone.
DISPENSING
We have provision to dispense for certain patients who are
registered with us. For further information contact the practice manager.
FAMILY PLANNING
We provide confidential advice and offer a full family
planning service, including coil fitting.
CERVICAL SMEARS
These are done by the practice nurses. We suggest a repeat
smear every three years, from the age of 25 to 49 and a repeat every 5
years from age 50 to 65. If you feel an appointment is overdue, please
check with reception. (more
info)
MINOR SURGERY
Minor surgery is performed at the practice. Discuss this
with your doctor first.
CHILD HEALTH CLINICS
In these clinics you have the opportunity to discuss your
baby’s (child’s) health with the health visitor, get advice on problems (ie
eating, sleeping problems) and get your child weighed. They are held every
Monday afternoon from 2.00pm onwards, alternately between Lichfield Health
Centre and Burntwood Health Centre.
TRAVEL CLINIC
We can give you all vaccinations needed for travel abroad
including Yellow Fever. Discuss your requirements with the practice nurse
at least eight weeks in advance. (more
info)
WELL PERSON CHECK
From the age of 16 years upwards we have a recall programme
to send patients appointments every three years. Patients may make these
appointments if they wish; these checks are normally carried out by the
practice nurse. We do strongly recommend a health check if you have not
seen your doctor during the last three years. This is normally booked with
the practice nurse.
PATIENTS OVER THE AGE OF 75
We recommend that patients over 75 are seen every year for
a check-up. If you find it
difficult to get to the surgery, we can arrange for a member of the
practice team to visit you at home.
DISABLED PATIENTS
All surgeries are on the ground floor with easy access.
NON-NHS EXAMINATIONS
Medical examinations for special purposes eg elderly
drivers, pre-employment, insurance medicals etc can be arranged by
appointment. A fee, as recommended by the British Medical Association,
will be payable for these examinations. (list
of fees for non-nhs services)
GP HOSPITAL CARE
We admit suitable patients to the general wards of Victoria
Hospital, Lichfield for our personal ongoing care and also accept
transfers from other hospitals for convalescence, thereby keeping as close
a link as possible with our patients.
MATERNITY CARE
The community midwife holds clinics regularly for the care
of pregnant and nursing mothers. Antenatal care will be shared by her and
the doctor. We deliver a number of our patients in the GP Maternity Unit
at Victoria Hospital, Lichfield, and also look after early transfers there
after delivery at other hospitals.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
If you change your address, please inform the receptionist
